Rotating the top hand lever manually drives the internal plug (or sealing piston) to rotate. The shifting position of the plug changes the fluid flow path, enabling switching of sterile process fluids between the two outlet ports.

When the plug is in different positions, it connects one outlet while blocking the other, completing fluid redirection.
