A sanitary stainless steel butterfly valve operates by positioning a disc in the middle of a pipeline to regulate fluid flow. The disc, mounted on a rotating shaft, blocks the passageway when the valve is closed. When open, the disc rotates a quarter turn, allowing fluid to pass. The valve’s operation is controlled by a handle or actuator, which can be manually or automatically adjusted. The flow of fluid can be modified by changing the disc’s angle. When the disc is parallel to the fluid flow, the valve is fully open, allowing maximum flow. Conversely, when the disc is perpendicular to the flow, the valve is closed, preventing flow. The valve’s sealing mechanism can be either resilient (using an elastomer seat) or high-performance (using a metal seat).
